Aakash Chopra has expressed his concern regarding Steve Smith's lackluster performance with the bat as Australia prepares to face the Netherlands in the 2023 World Cup.
The upcoming clash between these two teams is scheduled to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 25. In Australia's tournament opener against India,
Smith managed to score 46 runs, but he has failed to surpass the 20-run mark in subsequent matches, making it imperative for him to deliver a substantial performance against the Dutch.
Chopra, in a video shared on his YouTube channel while previewing the match, emphasized the scrutiny of Smith's performance. He elaborated at the 5:40 mark of the video.
The former Indian opener also noted that Marnus Labuschagne, who may be replaced by Travis Head in the playing XI, and Glenn Maxwell have not been consistent with the bat.
Chopra underscored the significance of the upcoming game for Australia, emphasizing that they are in contention for the fourth position,
following India, South Africa, and New Zealand, especially as Pakistan has struggled, and England's performance has been lackluster.
